Selected WF models offer 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while external current transformers support higher-current circuits. Selected configurations are supported by Australian RCM compliance documentation.

TWO CORE ENERGY METER PLATFORMS

The ADL range can be simplified into two main products:

ADL400W — THREE-PHASE ENERGY METER

The ADL400W is designed for monitoring three-phase electrical circuits, feeders and major electrical loads.

It is particularly suited to industrial and commercial switchboards where individual three-phase loads or distribution circuits need to be monitored.

Typical applications include:

  • Industrial machinery

  • Production lines

  • Three-phase pumps and motors

  • HVAC and mechanical plant

  • Compressed-air systems

  • Main distribution boards

  • Sub-distribution boards

  • Industrial switchboards

  • Commercial power distribution

SINGLE-CIRCUIT OR DUAL-CIRCUIT MONITORING

One of the useful features of the ADL200W and ADL400W range is the availability of single-circuit and dual-circuit versions.

The model number identifies the number of measurement circuits:

  • “-1-” = one measurement circuit

  • “-2-” = two measurement circuits

ADL200W

Because the ADL200W is a single-phase meter:

  • Single-circuit version uses 1 CT

  • Dual-circuit version uses 2 CTs

A dual-circuit ADL200W can therefore monitor two separate single-phase loads using one meter.

ADL400W

Because the ADL400W is a three-phase meter:

  • Single-circuit version uses 3 CTs

  • Dual-circuit version uses 6 CTs

A dual-circuit ADL400W can therefore monitor two separate three-phase feeders or loads using one meter.

This can reduce the number of individual meters required inside a switchboard.

EXTERNAL CURRENT TRANSFORMER OPTIONS

The ADL200W and ADL400W use external current transformers for current measurement.

Available RCM-covered configurations include CT size designations:

  • D10

  • D16

  • D24

  • D36

The D-number identifies the CT aperture / physical CT size used for the installation.

Different CT sizes allow the energy meter to be matched to different conductor sizes and current requirements.

APS Technology Australia can assist in selecting the appropriate CT configuration for the required electrical circuit.

RS485 MODBUS RTU COMMUNICATION

Both ADL200W and ADL400W support RS485 Modbus RTU communication.

Key communication specifications include:

  • Modbus RTU protocol

  • Device address: 1–247

  • Baud rates from 1,200 to 38,400 bps

  • Shielded twisted-pair communication cable recommended

  • RS485 bus length up to approximately 1,000 metres, subject to correct installation and network design

RS485 connectivity allows the meters to communicate with compatible:

  • PLC systems

  • HMI systems

  • SCADA systems

  • Building Management Systems

  • Industrial gateways

  • Energy-management platforms

  • Local monitoring systems

  • Cloud-connected monitoring architectures

Multiple meters can be installed on the same RS485 network when correctly addressed, wired and terminated.

WI-FI COMMUNICATION

Selected WF models incorporate Wi-Fi communication in addition to RS485.

Wi-Fi features include:

  • 2.4 GHz operation

  • Modbus TCP

  • HTTP communication

  • Connection to compatible energy-management systems

  • Integration with monitoring gateways and network-based platforms

Wi-Fi provides an additional communication option where direct network connectivity is preferred.

COMPREHENSIVE ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENT

The ADL200W and ADL400W provide much more than basic kWh measurement.

Depending on the selected configuration, measured parameters include:

  • Voltage

  • Current

  • Frequency

  • Active power

  • Reactive power

  • Apparent power

  • Power factor

  • Active energy

  • Reactive energy

  • Forward energy

  • Reverse energy

The ADL400W additionally provides phase-level electrical information for three-phase systems.

BIDIRECTIONAL ENERGY MONITORING

Both meter families support forward and reverse energy measurement.

This makes the ADL200W and ADL400W suitable for applications where electrical power may flow in either direction.

Typical examples include:

  • Solar PV systems

  • Battery energy-storage systems

  • Distributed energy systems

  • Import/export energy monitoring

  • Commercial renewable-energy installations

Forward and reverse monitoring provides improved visibility into both energy consumption and exported energy.
